Default Advice

Hi all,

My 1st post, i have just bought a 97 import my 1st turbo.
I must say i am very impressed, my question is the engine seems to get very hot after only a short journey, say 5 miles or so (not driving to hard) the temp guage stays solid at half way, water levels fine.

I am just wandering if this is normal or am i just being paraniod.

thanks

Welcome

If by hot you mean up to temperature i.e. gauge at halfway as you say, then that's fine - if you mean that it gets hotter than this (like towards the top of the scale) then drops down to normal half-way after 5 mins, then that might be something to look into (I'm thinking airlock, faulty thermostat possibly)

Mine's a 97 import as well, and it does seem to get up to temp fairly quickly - about 5 minutes is normal for mine; perhaps more like 10 minutes in really cold weather. My old Legacy H6 took a lot longer to get up to temp, but the block was a lot bigger

Hope that helps a bit

as above the temp gauge should stay in the middle and they dont take that long to get to tmep but here a few tips change the oil every 3000-4000 miles check the oil at leats once a week dont let it get low and also check that wtaer as well every week p.s drive for at least 10 minutes before giving any beans as well and it will love your for, oh and enjoy it as they are great machien that will get right under your skin , wellcome aboard dude : >

Thanks for the replys,
I will look after it, i.e let warm up and cool down etc.
It needs a bit of cosmetic work but iwll sort when i get a bit of cash.

One more question, sometimes there is an high pitched squeaking come from the front drivers side wheel, pads look fine, could this be the bearing.

thanks again

Are you sure it's the wheel and not the turbo?
