defi water temp gauge

Default defi water temp gauge

hi looking for some help as my water temp gauge is going all the way up to the maximum,checked wiring and one wire goes to top hose sensor,but there is another wire which isnt conected to anything was lying below top hose but is in the same cover as the one which goes to the top hose,temp gauge on dash is fine,any help would be great

AFAIK, BOTH wires go to the sender. Check the wiring connectors at the sender end to see if one has got pulled out.

If it's been pulled out but not from a connector, you might need a new sender.

cheers for the reply,the one that is loose not conected has a round kind of spade conector(ring terminal),and the one that is conected to the top hose has a normal flat spade conection,dont know were the loose one goes

That'll be the earth for the sender. try touching it on some metal part of the engine bay, to ground it. It could go to the negative on the battery, but try some where closer, as I mentioned.

Could be, but it's odd, my Defis weren't like that.

hi i conected loose wire to an earth point,when i turn engine on the gauge goes all the way to maximum then settles down to around 100 130 on the gauge,dont know what else to do can they be caliberated?

Try and compare the sensor fitted to your car to a picture of a genuine Defi item ont' internet ?
