Default Oil pressure

Right guys a quick question.Recently my oil guage has started to bounce up and down.On start up it reads 100psi.now through the warm up period when you accelerate the pressure literally drops to 0 psi then bounces back up 100psi.then as you keep driving it keeps bouncing btween 0 psi to 40psi to 100psi etc.after say 10 mins the bouncing subsides and a seady 90psi is achieved.Gauge is Swoosh, oil is Millers 10W60 and oil is not due to be replaced for another 3000km's.Is my gauge buggered or is something more sinister about to happen.Best regards Mal....PS usual readings used to be 100psi cold 90 psi hot and 60psi idle....

I found Swoosh gauges to be, well a bit crap Mal. Oil pressure gauge was totally unresponsive.

I've got Stack gauges now, which are so much better in comparison.

i have had a similar problem with swoosh gauges, all lovely at first, bought oil pressure, temp boost and afr and one by one they have been giving up, mostly with sticky needles and leds flashing and failing.

At 0 oil pressure. Your engine is no more.
So that sounds like an electrical fault.
Check the connection to the sender and then if you find nothing change the sender first - this often sorts it out.
Before embarking on the more expensive route of changing the guage.

yeah was about to say, 0 oil pressure would be the death of your engine so if your engine is still running then the gauge is fubar

As already said above Mal, gash gauge(s).

Buy some decent gauges, the Stack ones I have are probably close to Defi's in accuracy, but no where near as expensive.

i used to have swoosh and had no trouble at all with them, but you never know as i now have motor meter step motor gauges by r-spec, and they are wkd, they used senders very close to the defi 1's same in size at half the price,

i would get a new oil pressure sender first from r-spec there 10bar 1's so plenty of room for them to work if your gauge is a 7bar 1 then the pressure of the oil is putting it on the limit every time the oil is cold, i had 1 once and it lasted all of a week, the diaphram inside gave up,

try this one as the defi type need a special loom, this one is just a ground wire and then 1 to the sender input on your gauge
