radiator cold at bottom??
ok maybe im just being paranoid but i have a question.
i keep noticing that my radiator is always cold towards the bottom pipe. no i know this is the exit from the radiator so i expect it to be a bit cooler but mine is cold to the touch and so is the bottom pipe.
i have just done my headgasket because i was getting a pressureised system so that shouldnt be a problem.
is this normal??
i would of thought it would be quite warm or maybe hot.

after a run mate, just been out now drove about 20 miles. pulled up at house and noticed the water seemed to sound a bit hot. my temp gauge on defi was about 85 and car was normal so i felt the radiator and it was cold at bottom

cheers mate. would be apprciated.
just i know on a few other threads people have said headgasket. also i did drop my coolant the other day so it may be an air leak
fingercrossed but if you can check that would be great

seems normal, bottom hose cools fast , need to give hard blast pull up quickly and feel it right away as will feel cool again in no time.

If its hot - hot then cold usually means theres a blockage. If oil has mixed with water, please tell me you flushed the cooling system? as for air, did you let it idle with the cap off untill fanks kicked in and stat was fully open?
Should allways be cooler at the bottom than top, its how they work, oh and heater on in car so water goes orund matrix

i didnt have and oil in wate
. i just had a pressuring system and yes it was cleaned out.
well not until that point no. but i did start the car for a while. i guess i just didnt let the water get hot enough.

this morning i pulled over once my temp gauge got to about 55 deg on defi and away from any houses. i opened bonnet and took cap off header tank. i let the car heat the water as normal while squeezing the pipes to make sure i got all air out. i did this with the heaters on full blast in the car.
now after about 10-15 mins the car was up to temp and the top of the radiator near the top pipe was hot and the radiator had started to heat along the top ever so slightly, but as i moved. towards the bottom it was still cold to touch even the bottom pipe was cold. i did touch the thermostate housing and that was hot and where the pipe connected to this was hot. but it could just be heat from the engine or water in the engine heating it backwards.
anyway. i continued on my drive to work so i could check it once i had got there, i pulled up after about 15min drive with my heaters on all the way to work. and when i checked the radiator again it was cold at the bottom but still hot at the top. the thermostat housing was now cool and no longer as hot as it was but still the bottom pipe was cold,
oh and i have forgot to mention i am running a koyo alloy radiator. which is a bit of a big boy and gives 20-30% more cooling than standard
