Newage Boost Issues
Hi everybody
I am a new member of the forum, but have spent weeks reading up and searching before I bought my new car, a 2004 WRX.
Very pleased with it so far, apart from one thing, it is way down on power, and only producing 0.66 bar of boost. I have had a Blitz Rvit connected to the OBD port to measure the boost etc. The car has only been on super unleaded since I got it. There are nasty flat spots after 4000rpm, and you can feel the power ebb away.
The car is fitted with a Cat back system, and an induction kit, but to my knowledge has not be remapped for these.
After searching the forum for answers, I have cleaned out the boost solenoid and checked the actuator plumbing. I'm am not new to turbocharged cars, and run a 190bhp classic mini as my toy car. However I am a bit stumped by the scooby problem, and hope someone out there can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

To be honest that boost is probably about right it may be a little low but not much.
As for the flat spot it could be a number of things, plugs, leads, has it been serviced rescently? It would benefit greatly from a remap as you have fitted an exhaust etc so fueling could be a little out too.

It should be pulling about 1 bar, so way down on the norm. 0.5 bar is wastegate boost so quite easy to offer a few options (pill in boost hose, boost solenoid, limp home mode). Could be the mods as suggested, but I'd be getting it on a diagnostics machine because of the flat spot. That could be any of a range of sensors - O2, MAF.

The standard peak boost is 0.95 bar tailing off to around 0.67 at the top. Is that 0.66 bar you are measuring at the top of the rev range ? If so it is pretty much spot on with how Subaru intended it.

That was peak boost the engine managed to reach on a full throttle run through all the gears. I am located in South Staffs, I may pop up to Scooby Clinic and just let them have a look, and possibly a remap at the same time.
Thanks very much for the replies.
