Just bought my new car, its a 53 wrx. Happy with the car apart from the exhaust. Its a Prodrive system but its just so quiet ! Might seem a stupid question but is there any way of making it louder without going to the expense of changing the system, be nice to hear what im driving. Thanks.

 

take out the resonator pipe between cat and backbox and replace it with straight through pipe, about 70 quid.
this will make it burble nice and loud

 

Thanks for that but just had a quick look under the car and it seems to have a straight through pipe but is there any way of checking ?

 

Sorry ,even if you fit a decat and straight through centre pipe ,your prodrive is never going to be loud,as prodrive do not make a loud backbox,it is merely an upgrade over the std o/e system and a little less restrictive.On my last scoob i had an afterburner vortex backbox & this was nearly as loud as a prodrive system when it had the bung inserted .

If you jack one side of the car up and take a good look at the centre section,if it is std should have a secondary cat(stamped subaru) and a resonator silencer.If you do want your car a bit louder no need to change the whole system,you can get a cat back system,but normally a good aftermarket backbox is normally enough.

Any of the above exhaust will sound a great deal louder than your prodrive backbox,except the racebox which is not as loud as the others ,but more bass than the prodrive system you have imho
