Default Up-pipe advice please.

Right, I have a bug WRX. I currently have a Magnex de-cat up-pipe on it that I fitted around a year ago, it's the non-flexi/slip joint type (just a straight lagged pipe).
I already have an Sti top mount i/c, k&n panel filter, prodrive sports cat dp and a catless prodrive 2.5 inch system on it. I will soon be fitting an Andy Forrest TD04 hybrid, STI pinks, cooler plugs, 3port boost solenoid, Walbro fuel pump and a set of standard ported and lagged headers. I have just got hold of a standard STI up-pipe, my question is would there be any advantage fitting this instead of the Magnex one? The STI one would be ported and lagged.

Cheers,

Ayde.

What is the diameter of both pipes?

Go for the smallest bore one, for feeding the small TD04 Hybrid. I think anything up to 40mm dia. should be okay. If either pipe's dia. is greater, then exchange them for an appropriate sized one from harvey...

The STi wouldn't have an EGT sensor hole but I guess that's not a problem So No...... the STi would be little diferent to the magnex one IMHO..

For additional info I'd ask harvey on here as he might suggest an alternative

i am pretty sure the magnex one is 42mm the same as original fitment, so there would be no gain, unlike some which are 2 inch or bigger and can cause a loss in spool.

Thanks for the advice, EGT already removed and a resistor inplace
The Magnex was a fairly small bore similar to original iirc, so now im wondering if the cast STI item would be a better option as the stainless one has no slip/flexi joint, so I imagine it will expand and contract more maybe causing reliability issues in future perhaps. I'm sure Harvey will be along soon

Cheers,

Ayde

Flexi ones' flexi area degrades over time and fails.

Slip-jointed ones are fine.

Yeah, the Magnex one is just a straight pipe, no joint at all. I'll probably leave as is just thought I'd ask the question as it would be an easy swap while I have everything disconnected at either end of the up-pipe.

Cheers,

Ayde.

Leave it, I had a 40mm one on mine and it gave good torque.
