Default V3 sti and V3 sti type R engine differences??

Hi All,

Is there any significant difference between the engines in the 4 door version 3 sti and the 2 door version 3 sti type R??

I know the aesthetical differences and that the type R incorporates the DCCD and IC water spray and no ABS etc etc.... but is there a difference in the pistons, rods, heads, crank etc between the two??

I beleived that all the classic STIs come with some sort of forged pistons.....is that correct??

Cheers,
Imran

Yes they are subaru forged pistons, you can do much better as these are going to be made en mass at low cost, but the rods are the weak spot.
