Redtop Engine Help

Hi :) Hopefully within the next week I will be buying an Impreza (Classic) I was hoping someone would be kind enough to answer me a question, I'd imagine its been asked a million times before but I cant seem to find the answer. I've been looking at an STI Type R's V3 but it doesnt seem to have the redtop engine ? Why is this ?
