Default 2.5 OE STi Clutch - 6 Speed - Whats it capable of? and what are you running it with?

Hi guys

I bought the 2.5 OE STi newage 6 speed clutch a while back now when i thought the clutch had gone on my car when it hadnt.

Release bearing - Exedy one off Ebay £30
Spigot bearing £10 off Ebay

From your friendly dealership
anyways im going to up the power on the bugeye to near enough 400bhp so the torque should be increased too with the VF48.

so this will probably now come in handy soon.

dont really hear much about them though. what lb/fts torque are they rated at? and what are you guys running through them comfortably on a daily basis? what power did they let go at?

just want to hear from those guys who are using this clutch.

i wont be going any higher power wise unless i go forged build.. main use will be the road as daily driver and the odd drag day a year.

cheers

It'd be difficult to put a rating on them but i'd imagine it'd hold out fine with 400hp.

I'm running 402/355 and mine has been fine, even though its a 2.0 OEM 6 speeder.

Seen a few people running over 450hp and over 420 lb ft with the stock clutch

My first one lasted for 45,000 miles and still had plenty of life and I had no need to change it, other than the engine was out for a rebuild.

Output was 370/390 and a little more with the rebuild and map tweak.

You don't hear of them as everyone jumps on the Exedy pink kit train - but that's marketing for you.

thats a good output at 390 l/bs of torque.. 45k miles has sold me, lol i'll keep it.

as for the exedy pink box.. i dont rate them! when i first asked for my brothers car.. (which is where you told me about the 2.5 clutch) he didnt wanna try the 2.5 so bought a pink box and i found its an on off sort of clutch and judders like hell.. even after 10k miles. not impressed, stop start traffic is a nightmare.

If your getting the clutch done anyway, probably best to get the fly wheel skimmed better to be safe then sorry Some places already have OE ones skimmed so can replace straight away rather than waiting for it to get skimmed.

45k miles with plenty of life sounds good. Do you rev match all the time?

I had the same problem Eddy a little while back and was not sure what to go for.

I was going to go OEM 2.5 6sp clutch set up but in the end I went for a Helix Organic . Well happy with it.
