Default MY05 Type UK Sti, is a Tracker standard fit?

Good morning,

I thought that a tracker was installed to the above model as a factory standard, however i have found one i like and it doesnt have one fitted? Were they only fitted as an optional extra?

thanks,

Craig

It was certainly standard fit on mine. Are you sure it's a UK model?
Sounds like it needs a bit more investigation before committing.

The chap is saying its a UK model, I havent got/seen the logbook to check that out yet! Does it say on the logbook clearly that its a UK model?

On a side note, do either of yours have HID headlights fitted? as i have seen a brochure online that states this as a standard item, yet people seem to differ on opinion?

European cars (Malta) didn't come with a tracker as standard.

Does it have the UK STI badge on the boot?

I was under the impression they all came with trackers fitted as standard but it's your own repsonsibility to get a subscription and have it activated.

My own '05 UK STI does.

Have you checked with your insurance company that they acknowledge them? I only ask as my insurance company does not offer any discount for having one so its not worthwhile activating it.....

(If my car is stolen and 'mistreated' then I wouldn't want it back anyway!)

It's quite obvious, it's bright pink and says Type UK under the STI Emblem

If it just says STI, the it's a European parallel import

there is that bright pink sticker under the STi badge, i just cant read it in the photo so wasnt sure what it was!! it also has a pink sticker on the TMIC?

My insurance company acknowledge the trackers, and will actually only insure me with one fitted and activiated (direct line), however the insurance is up for renewal in september, and i have a quote with AVIVA and they dont need the tracking system

However if a tracker was standard fit then i am unsure why this one doesnt have one!

If it's a Type UK and has no Tracker I'd be asking questions. IM fitted them all with Trackers when they arrived on the boat.

Could be a ringer or clone?

Time to check all the identifying numbers against the VIN mate before shelling out any cash...

The chap is confirming that he has the CAT 1 alarm certificate sealed in the original plastic wallet that came with the car, and it has the VIN number stamped on it. He bought the car at 1400 miles and is the second owner, and is under the impression that there is no tracker because he has no paperwork with it, and he has never looked into it? Is it possible that the car does have a tracker? What tells you that there is a tracker installed?

THanks,

Sounds like it has a tracker but he let the annual renewal lapse which would disable it.
Surely he has paperwork for it in terms of the alarm cert

Other than talking various trim parts off, there are no outward signs of the Tracker.
Normal practice is for the seller to contact Tracker for a change of ownership.

well i have spoke to subaru UK and quoted the registration number and they say that the car was definetly fitted with either a matrosat (sp?) 800 tracker, or an RAC trackstar as standard.

Speaking to the current owner, he has the alarm certificate in a sealed plastic wallet, this wallet contains more than one piece of paper, but he does not want to open it due to its originality and the fact there is a sticker on it saying 'for dealer use only'

does anyone think that the tracker information will be in this wallet?

Is there any other form of documentation that should be there to prove a tracker?

He has sent me pictures of the VIN plate on the dash, the VIN under the bonnet, the logbook and has confirmed that the vin is stickered on each door, bonnet and boot, and the windows are etched with the VIN number as well! i will make sure these all match obiously!

anyone think of anything else to check? hes sent me a picture of the boot as well with the type uk picture clearly showing!!

Guy and car sounds genuine enough if he is supplying you with all that information. Obviously still check everything when you view the car.

I would call RAC Trackstar, give them the registration number, tell them that you want to buy the car and have the tracker re-enabled and ask them to confirm that one of their units is fitted to the car and for a price to activate it again.
