Your car can run 95 ron (as long as its a UK wrx and not a JDM version), but you will benefit more from running a higher octane fuel, ie better economy, smoother and better performance etc, its the cheapest mod you can do

Tony's spot on, but the bottom line in these situation is that you always have the option to try it and see how much of a difference it makes to the way you use the car.

The newage ECUs are quite proactive to changes in fuel quality so there's no harm in trying a tank of it to see for yourself. If it doesn't work for you, just fill back up with the good stuff and the car will be back as it was within a tankful.

I have done approximately 30k miles on standard 95, I did run v power for a few months and I couldn't really tell the difference. I also had to go quite a bit out of my way to pick it up as there only seems to be one garage that sells it where I live.

I have had no problems with my engine but it is a standard 2.5 wrx engine. If I was running a modded STi then I might have stuck to the v power.

I'm now running LPG and the engine continues to perform as it should.

does disconnecting the car battery to reset the ecu help pickup the change in fuel faster then letting the ecu advance the timing slowly?

I would have thought so, as it has no previous stored learnt IAM setting (as it will have been erased).

If you're goona do that, then drain down your exisitng fuel, and brim with a fresh stock of the good stuff... THEN do the reset.

So the ECU thinks, "Aye'oop, this is really good **** lol..." and gets to the optimum IAM really quickly, etc...

It's a moot point though - ECU will get to optimum IAM pretty quickly anyway...

Don't you need to plug in to reset the ECU on a newage?

You need laptop, cable, software (think it's called ECUExplorer) to reset the New Age ECU...

The Newage DENSO ECU is pretty good, no need to re-set IMHO as it will learn quickly
