Default bottom end gone on my scoob

got a 57 plate sti type uk ith ppp has full service history had 9100 miles on when i bought it in april 2010 now got to 12000 miles mixed driving town and motorway.. anyway on wednesday went to work and heard a low down rattle checked agian and heard the rattle called the dealership where i bought it from took it up and the service manager listened to the engine for a few secounds and said yep needs a short engine this ones dead.... just cant believe it never used oil since i ve had it always warmed it up before driving spritely always used to give it a couple of minutes to warm down only used v power , dealership have lent me a ford fiesta 1.25 zetec what a car!!!! they will be stripping my motor down next week and submit a warranty claim as the car is not 3 years old until end of sept....still cant believe it a little worried now just in case the replacement engine does the same in a year or so .... my only thought would be run the new engine in for a thousand miles or so and get it remapped by one of our resident mappers instead of the ppp pack. anybody think this a good way forward ...
