Default t reg turbo 2000. which mods?

hey guys got myself another impreza after previously having 2 ropey old wrx's. its a competely bog standard turbo 2000. i know that it will be nowhere near the power of the wrx but im not fussed about that to be honest as im just after some nice usable power.

my question is what do you guys recommend in the way of mods to get a genuine 260-280 bhp?

cheers

For that power it should only require a remap, and the current TD04 turbo. If its a 99 model you will be able to go straight for a ECUTEC remap. Speak to Jolly green monster, Andy F, Harvey, Bob Rawle etc. all frequent this forum Hope this helps.

was registered 18\03\99. what power are these standard then? was told 204bhp which feels about right.

the mods that i have planned are front mount cooler, cat back system, decent induction kit and a remap. what sort of power gains could this lot yield?

cheers again

215bhp standard, 214lbs of torque, decat and panel filter with a remap should push you to 270bhp, going for a caik or any induction kit is not recommended on MY99/00 cars due to the maf sensors being more sensitive to vibration and contamination.

IF you go fmic, i would recommend going for an after market ecu that removes the need for the maf sensor, also look at the brakes, even on a standard set up with 215bhp my first MY00 (back in 2000) didnt inspire confidence in the stopping department (hence I upgraded to a Brembo/AP setup )

4 pots are standard on all UK subaru impreza turbo's from the MY99's onwards
JDM WRX's running 280ps on the same year had the 2 pots

As said above to get to 260 - 280 bhp have a read of this ,should be achievable quite easily with a decent mapper :

Just need decat downpipe, decent system, decent panel filter, Walbro 255, fresh plugs and a EcuTek remap = 270-280 odd bhp.

As above though, if you're worried about the MY99/00 fragile MAF then either make sure it's the latest "post-2006/green stripe" one - or, indeed, fit one. Or you could replace with the more robust-style Q45 MAF, before the remap.

Or, ultimately, do away with the MAF altogether and go Simtek ECU/remap....

if it is a 98 car you will need a new ecu anyway.
