Evening guys, my vf35 housing is leaking, i have terrible boost surge, and the wastegate actuator is rattling its bottom off!!
All in all, it would be cheaper to just get a new turbo.
I just don't know what one to go for!
I'm looking to keep the car around the 330bhp figure
So which turbo is best for my needs?? (i would like to keep the car with as little lag as possible)
TD05-16g (lots of different types, which one and from who?!)
vf34 (pricey)
scoobyclinic sc36.
My car is a 2002 bugeye wrx,
Mods,
Sti injectors,
Sti top mount,
Green pannel filter,
Ninja sportscat downpipe,
Decatted system otherwise (2.5")
3 port boost solenoid,
ecutek map
vf35 (which is toilet!)
Any help would be fantastic,
Thanks in advance
Matt

Does andy take vf's?? only ever had td04 then went to vf35 which i think ruined it's drivability, due to lag and boost surge, hense looking for a slightly better turbo.

Ok, so the 34 is on the short list. Now to hunting the best place to get it from (with all the hardware needed like, banjo bolts, gaskets, o-rings etc)

The VF35 is regarded as a Tubby which ain't too laggy. I suggest that the mapping was suspet. If that ain't the case - you will struggle to hit 330 with much less lag

If your on a budget lol, consider a vf28,minimal lag and if you look hard enough and find a good one,can be good for up to 330 bhp for less than £200. Same applies to the vf23 which also can give good performance ,for a small amount of dosh. Most people who upgrade from a td04 automatically seem to go for a vf 35 imho, leaving some good used turbo's out there for the rest of us to exploit.

Hi Duncan,
No it wasn't surging before, but it has started to really misbehave.
I just don't trust it, and swant to stick a new turbo on. Just wanted some views on which would be best for drivability and power.
