What power will i get from the following.
i have a Uk Impreza Turbo 98; standard exept
td04 ( std )
Front mount intercooler ( big )
Open Cone filter ( induction kit )
3" Turbo back Stainless ( No cat )
Adding An Apexi Ecu and havin remapped. what would i get from this? been told i could/should expect 290 - 300 bhp 300ft torque.
Is this about right and is it going to be safe power on standard internals and turbo.?
As far as running gear goes still standard clutch and Gearbox.. how ever gear box is already whining in 1st gear and last night made a funny noise whilest cruising at 70mph to let off and stopped doing it for rest of journet.
Planning on gettin different gearbox ( slightly stronger one ) any one know what i can and cant fit directly to my car. clutch wise is sorted already got a supplier for stage 1 clutch and skimmed fly wheel. ( fiestaboy )

I'd say more like 260-270bhp maybe a little higher, the standard TD04 can't do much more. Also not sure what injectors the '98 model has, but I'm guessing the 440's were only fitted to MY99-00, I could be wrong though.

Your car will be capable of 270-280 bhp, perhaps a little bit more and a lot will depend on how much boost the engine/turbo is happy to run at. It is rare for a TD04 to do much more than 290 although it does happen sometimes and remember different rolling roads give different figures.
Generally 440 injectors will max out at 330-340 bhp or just before on standard fuel pressure.

dont waste your money, you dont need them. your td04 turbo will max out way before the injectors even start to get going let alone struggle to supply enough fuel

Not on a TD04. Was a while ago though. same setup as now, but Td04 on. Power was mid 270's and nearly 300ft/lbs. Exhaust with only Prodrive sports cat left in, fuel pump, plugs, panel filter and changed to Prodrive intercooler hose.

I love these threads
Martin, get yourself a slightly larger turbo, some 440 injectors (cheap and modifiable should you want to), fuel pump and relevant unrated service items ...map to c.300+/300+ job done
FWIW Fiestaboy is awesome and if he's doing your work you're in good hands

To be honest its not about power, pub talk stuff, its about how it drives etc.
I was trying to chase figures, and then got involved. Went for smallest turbo. I got really good results. But the drive is awsome.
Its up to you what you go for. But as others say 440's flow more then you think.

This one can be used to punk someones obscene power claims by asking them injector size, I call it the "injector size idiot b1tch slapper."
Maximum HP = [Injector Mass Flow Rate] * [#number of injectors] * [Max Duty Cycle]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Brake Specific Fuel Consumption]
When using CC's as the value for [Injector Mass Flow Rate], simply divide [10.5] by adding the 10.5 to the bottom of the equation. Now its this.....
Maximum HP = [Injector Mass Flow Rate] * [#number of injectors] * [Max Duty Cycle]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[10.5] * [Brake Specific Fuel Consumption]
Lets use a WRX motor for example...
Injectors = 440cc
# of injectors = 4
We will explore various duty cycles, but lets begin with a safe 85%
Brake Specific Fuel Consumption for a turbo motor is between .5 and .6 - BUT since our motors like to be nice and rich ill keep it w/.60 first time.
SO.....
440*4*.85
-------------- = 237 easy hp.
10.5*.60
Now lets see the effects of a leaner AFR...BSFC of .55 lbs/hp-hr
440*4*.85
-------------- = 259hp
10.5*.55
Any finally a motor that is THEORETICALLY pushing its lower limits limits w/a BSFC of less than .50 on our car...
440*4*1.00
--------------- = 335hp w/leaner AFR and static injectors.
10.5*.50
Obviously you can find alot more power in this EQ by leaning the hell out of the AFR, but its still usefull to stomp on the novice bull****ters. An avid liar will know to also lie about his fuel system. But hey, nothing better than calling out a '400whp hondaboy' whose running stock fuel.

right ok well im going to get a better turbo and yellow injectors for now and then have it all mapped together. am i going to really do any major damage to my car with out a map running with the current mods? ( front mount and de cat with 3" cat back. aint open air filter? ) as its lettin out some pretty good flames as i let off ( has a spark plug flamer kit ) so should show its not running to lean? im not very clued up on these so what is worse case senerio?

if i was you definately get the car remaped to answer your first question worst case scenerio blown engine, there is know way you can put on a bigger turbo plus injecters without one, anything that you add to a engine is going to play with the set up you got on it already.

Changing the injectors and trying to run the car other than to a remap is very foolish. Similarly, if you change to a different type of turbo you need to remap.
BTW, pink injectors as in New Age STis are top feed and 98 UK cars with 380 cc grey injectors are side feed. All Classics are side feed and all new age are top feed.
380cc injectors at standard fuel pressure cannot flow enough for 320 bhp. Sorry. Might be an optomistic dyno.

Change of plan i will no be runing the following:
Front mount intercooler
de Cat
3"all the way back exhaust
Yellow 440's injectors
VF35 Turbo
Induction kit ( until i have customised my airbox to fit with front mount pipework or built heat shield and added air intakes. )
Apexi Ecu and remap to suit.
This hould and hopefully take me over the 300bhp /300ft torquw mark which i was aiming o do . Turbos ordered and paid for along with apexi they will delivered next week and need to order my injectors next week with adaptor stuff o rings etc. looks like ill need rocket cover doing again as well. so hopefully by either end of next week or next pay day my scooby be running more like the power they should over 300 Mark Woohoo lol

The 440s are indeed the potential limiting factor in that lot - but you should make at least 320-340bhp as harvey said.
It's not far off the VF35's potential of 340-350, so prob not worth changing them over to 550s for the sake of chasing a possible 10-20bhp. You could always add-in an adj. FPR though........

yeh thats cool, with regards to the not having it mapped thing i meant as my car is at the moment with de cat induction kit and front mount will this cause damage with out a remap not fitted the inj turbo etc until its mapped i know that lol just wanted to know bout the current mods ( FMIC EXHAUST INCL DECAT INDUCTION KIT ) i am running dont see how they could cause to much damage?
