Do you mean Engine Managment light? Find that odd that the light was on and when checked no codes showed?
If it is on your need to get it checked out matey.
Has the car had any modifications to it that could cause the light to come on etc?
What is your location ?
Steve

If the EML came on, then there will definately be a current or historic fault code stored in the ECU.
What code reader did the garage use? - Did you take it to a Subaru Main Dealer?
If you're anywhere near me, i'll take a look if you like

There are usually one of two or three errors that come up on a std WRX, specially after a good old swift motorway run...Misfire DTC and Cam Position Sensor DTC, and once in a while you might even see a TGV DTC. Any of these will throw a CEL (Check Engine Light).
Before my Bugeye WRX sportwagon ceased being a std car this was not an unusual occurance.
I'm willing to bet it's one of these. Give it a few restarts or couple of mornings and it will go away. Best thing to do though is have these codes switched off by a tuner. It's just one of those Bugeye WRX things i'm afraid.

fiesta boy is more qualified than me is this light on when your driving or just on start up then goes out when driving sensors clean the lamba sensor with a cloth unplug but is a bitch to do then clear codes if you have a problem the management light will be red not yellow and even if its red wont go into limp mode then you will know theres a problem as it wont rev

My 2002 wagon regularly comes up with this - Cam Position Sensor DTC. When under warranty they replace the sensor, and wiring several times. It still pops up occasionally - so I get it the CEL turned off and then it disappears for several weeks again before once again appearing.
