Fitting a knock link monitor to a classic turbo, where to mount the knock sensor? Got to keep original sensor where is though. Needs to be a 12mm bolt head size diameter so can pass though middle of sensor.

cheers

Hmmmm not quite getting you there when you say you have to keep the original sensor where it is, these come (or should come) with a completely new bosch sensor that you put on the top of the engine.
It just bolts down, easy to fix, no effort needed, you just find one of the free holes on top of the inlet manifold.

Tony

PS, you would have been better off with a KS3, if your mind (or eyes) are not on the job 100% of the time, you wont notice the flickering red light, a ks3 you will hear

There should be some threaded holes you can use above the starter motor. Just hope Pete does not see this.

Does the KS3's (or KS4's) alarm cut through a stereo at 'normal' listening volume? Is it shrill/loud and easy to hear?

If you look at the right side of the inlet manifold, you will see a spare thread in the block, thats where i mounted mine, might need to put some oil in it to grease the threads up,just dont overtighten the bolt you use.

mount the internal knocklink lites in direct eyeline,i removed my LED`s and mounted them inside my speedo cluster.

There is an unused M8 boss at the top rear of the block just below the front of the intercooler. If your car doesn't have aircon, the best place to put it is in the unused M10 fine boss above the number 2 cylinder, beneath the front of the inlet manifold. You will need an M10 x 1.25 to M8 adapter made up to fit the sensor here however.

Probably also worth pointing out that the KnockLink is nowhere near as accurate as digital devices like the Phormula ones. If you have already bought a KnockLink then I guess it's a moot point, but if you haven't, you'd be better off spending a bit more and getting a KS3.
