first start up question

first start up question
Right ive just finished putting my new engine in today just a couple of bits to do tomorrow eg new oil filter , plugs etc and was wondering what is the right procedure for first start up as ive read on here that some people disconnect the crank sensor and some dont

Yeah disconnect crank sensor to prime oil system esp after an oil change. Fill filter with new oil when refitting the new filter too.
My opinion is that whether its needed or not its not doing any harm, and if there is a one in a million chance that it will help stop any damage then I`ll do it.

Initially crank the engine over with cam and crank sensors disconnected, and the sparkplugs removed.
Having the plugs out will releive the load on the (dry) big end shells, and obviously the starter motor can then turn the engine over faster, and allow the oil pump to prime the system more effectively.
If you crack off the 14mm head banjo bolt on the turbo oil feed line before dry cranking, you'll be able to see oil seeping from under the washers, when it has reached the cylinder heads.
