Default TD05 16G modification

I have a spare Td05 16g can these be modified to give more boost??
Basically will be looking to get a remap with some other mods in a few months, and was wondering if the 16g could be modified to give more power?

Any ideas on what would be involved, and what the rough costs would be?
Also if there is any point.

Well, Andy Forrest sells his own modded refurbed TD05H 16g off the shelf. You could buy his, and get a surcharge back on your exisiting 16g. Prob easier that way.

You can also specify top, or front entry comp cover.

Check his site....

Well I`d have 2 for exchange the one spare and the one on my car.

What does he do to the turbo, and what sort of power do they make over standard??

Email/PM him. I believe they can make similar power but spool a bit quicker(?)

AFP5-16 - is based on the 90 degree inlet TD05 16G from the 93-96 cars and can also be converted to front entry to suit 97 onward cars. This turbo is very popular on installations aiming for up to 340bhp. It is available as a fully re-manufactured unit or new. This turbo will typically spool up to 1 bar boost by 3000rpm and full boost by 3300rpm.

£350 exchange or £600 new outright (includes 12 months warranty)

Cheers for that, just found his website and tbh would prefer this.

AFP5-20 - this is also a variation on the TD05. This time fitted with a much larger, high efficiency 20G compressor wheel and compressor housing. The high efficiency compressor allows the turbo to run at a lower rpm whilst still producing boost. This results in similar spool up to the 5-16 but with a 50bhp increase in airflow capability. This was the turbo used on our own RA to produce 440bhp (running fuel additives) . Up to 400 bhp is typically achievable in conjunction with full supporting modifications .

This turbo is very effective on the 2.0 and also 2.5 conversions with 1 bar+ boost coming in around 2600rpm on the 2.5

£850 new or £550 exchange (includes 12 months warranty)

If you require the exchange unit prior to removal of your old turbo then the returnable exchange deposit required on all TD05 based units is £250. Exchange unit must be TD05 based such as found on 93-96 Impreza saloon. TD04 and VF series are not suitable for exchange on 18G and 20G turbos

Ha ha. I wondered how long it'd take to change your mind to either the 18g or 20g.

harvey does the 20g (and 18g) at keener prices TBH, and they are fully ported. I think he also does a curious 20g alternative for similar cash (can't recall its nomenclature), that is more likely to make 400 than the 20g - given appropriate like for like supp. mods...

Sorry, you're going to exchange... so £550 is amazing value!

EDIT: Ah, but I think you need to add VAT... Mind, that's still only £646.25!
