No oil!!!

when was the last time you checked it?
If its was recently then you need to be looking at where the oil has gone, i.e is their a leak, is it burning it...
...Obviously running it low on oil isnt a good thing and can potentially kill your bottom end quite quickly so much sure you check it regualarly!

Its only just had oil change 2000 miles ago, I did it and to be honest havent checked it since then as girlfriend has been driving it, and havent thought about car. hope it isn't burning it as no leaks whatso ever. Just hope it was my fault when did oil change might not have been on a flat surface and it looked like there was some in when filling up. I'll keep a close eye on it, and do another change soon.

check for any blue/black smoke when engine is under load and on over run, as if this was the case it would indiciate piston ring/valve stem seal failure...
Hopefully you got lucky though, monitor it and check its not dropping in level

If car is running ok with no knocks then you probably got away with it, but as above my concern would be to find out where it has gone, if you did make an error on oil change and all is now fine you have been lucky.

Impossible to answer that question for you given we don't know how much oil was left. If this is on a classic, you need about 3.3 litres in the sump to dip the very bottom of the stick. As such, if the stick was completely dry, you had somewhere between 0 and 3.3 litres of oil left.
If you had 3.3, you probably have no immediate need to worry - although you do need to find out why it seems to have dropped so quick. Burning over a litre in 2000 miles is significant usage - assuming of course you don't have a leaking filter or sump plug, or some other "indirect" method of loss.
If you had considerably less than 3.3, then there's a risk of it drawing air into the oil pickup, which is going to cause damage quite quickly.
How much did it need to bring the level back up to the top hole?

Its topped up now.

Check for loose oil filter... or a hole through it!
My mate had the latter scenario happen on his (mum's lol) Starlet (not a turbo lol), and it was lucky he noticed oil on the ground after switch off... and that we located the problem quickly... and that Halfords had a filter in stock

MY00 Uk.
I put in less then a litre and all seems fine now, I have only just noticed that my drive is not level. So this might not be good to do a change on, so got to level ground and topped up, run about in it for a few mins then checked after about 10-15mins, and all is well. I'll just keep an eye on it.
But if does blow on me time for upgrades. HAHAHa

Over the next few days, if you don't hear any dodgy sounding knocking/tapping noises, that weren't there before, chances are you've been extremely lucky and gotten away with it...
