Intake tmp sensor (classic STi)
Hi all,
we are ending classic Sti engine (ej207) swap to classic GT (uk type 2000). Unfortunalety we dont know what does intake tmp sensor in Sti. I mean we connected it and it is showing -40 degrees
Is it essential to use this tmp sensor? What ecu needs it for?
sorry for poor english.
*looked for answer but none thread showed up.
Cheers
Peter

If it reads -40 celsius, you clearly haven't connected it (or have connected it incorrectly). One end needs to be connected to the main sensor ground (B136 pin 18/23/24/30/31), with its other end going to connector B136 pin 19.
Assuming you are using the correct STi ECU (i.e. AF040/AF041), the IAT sensor is used to adjust the overall boost target, and the boost solenoid duty cycle. It is also used as part of the automatic intercooler water spray trigger strategy.
The engine will run without it but you will likely find that the boost control will be inconsistent, varying quite a bit with ambient air temperature.
