If all you have done is change the rad, then it can only be an air lock

hi ive change the radiator and thermostat but it seems there is a lot of pressure in the header tank also the bottom radiator hose is cooled even tho the water is boiling hot? its really getting on my nerves now y do they make it so hard to bleed these cars?

header tank cap off and hold some revs on and then massage bottom hose to help push the air lock out, you will get there.

ok thanx will have another go tomorrow when ive carmed down otherwise i might just hit it with a hammer lol! o just one more question you dont think it might be hg that has gone as the radiator was cracked i had been putting water in it for about 3 weeks every day till i found the crack , because like i say if i let the cap off a bit it dont over heat that would be the same as the crack in the rad? thanx for all you help

hi had the same problem with my classic when i refited my engine the way i got round it was to undo to bottom rad hose and fill the header with coolent and then put the bottom hose back on when coolent was running through then i back filled the system using the water pipe on the back of the header tank that goes down near the turbo this sorted my problem good luck

hi guys have tried bleeding again and again no look been adviced by a friend that it could be my water pump gone as it seems as the coolent is not going round and when the water is spiting out the header tank it is when its boiling just woundering what you guys think could he be right would i not have heard it going??????????????????

hi guys thanx for that took thermo out and its opening at about 79 degs so think its ok and i have done a block test to see if hg is leaking and lequid stayed blue this is really puzzling me?

If it was me, i would drain the system first.
Then take the rear most hose off the header tank, get a funnell and back fill the system through that rear hose. Do it very slowly so as to avoid any spit back or bubbling, it can take a while on a fully drained system, so patience is a must When it's full put it (the rear hose) back on, then fill the front of the system through the header tank in same manner
