Default Engine light on

Hello, I'm getting a full turbo back system put on my bug this weekend and i would like some kind Sir to turn off my engine warning light due to the code that appears, i'm located in Preston so anywere in the North West would be great!

Yeah, my mate has his number but i'm not getting it mapped yet as i'm buying other stuff so just would like someone with a data cable to turn it off.

You need more than someone with "a data cable" to disable the error. You need someone with the above plus the ability and tools to reprogram the ECU.

ahh roger, i just thought someone could just stop the ECU bringing up the same code and just remove it? That must be able to be done? At the end of the day its just an error code that just needs removing from the memory.

Yeah, like I said above, it's removed (permanently) via reprogramming the ECU ROM (ie. the same process that is done when data is modified during a remap). That's a much more complicated operation than simply datalogging or resetting.

At the end of the day its just an error code that just needs removing from the memory.
No, it isn't. If you just reset the DTC memory to get rid of the error and do nothing else, it will come back as soon as you restart the car, because the conditions that caused it in the first place are still present. In order to prevent it recurring permanently you need to alter the program execution path (or activation criteria) so that the trouble code doesn't re-activate.
