Default code 0420

as an old post states i have recieved a c.e.l which reads code above-catalyst below threshold bank one.
i was told it would be due to a de-cat although i still have o/e cat on for now but the car hasnt been running any worse in fact i cant tell any differance at all.i do get a few more pops from the exhaust than i used too tho but i suspected a weeping gasket.
Anyway, main reason for this post is wondering why my c.e.l (which is on)started flashing on/off for about 5 seconds last night when driving on the by-pass.
what exactly does low threshold mean and does it mean my cats on its way out??? any help appreciated.

2001 bugeye wrx.(panel filter.cat back exhaust)

right.just read thru the archives and found a handy cel fix by Hades.
if i fit the resistor to the o2sensor will this automatically clear the light or will it have to be cleared by me/garage??

If you've still got the standard downpipe cat fitted to the car then it means the cat is basically knackered, a cel fix would get rid of the light but wouldnt fix the underlying problem you have got..

This is actually quite a common problem on bugeye's - doesnt necessarily mean your cats duff.....get the code cleared and see how if/how long it take to come on again
