Default how can i know if MAF sensor is broken

Hi,
am new here, quiet new with subaru i have swabbed 98 sti imported from jaban an did every thing new regarding the electrical harness. my car was great since i installed walpro 255lph and replaced the MAF, it was like monster.
this it started to be weaker i changed the feul pump to standered one and no changes, how can i know in my MAF is weak or have a problem

When my MAF broke on my car it simply wouldn't boost properly at all. It felt like the turbo was on its way. Try a secondhand one before you pay out to a main dealer for a new one?

Unplug it with the engine running - if it's working correctly the engine will cut out/stall

No, don't do the above. The above "test" proves absolutely nothing, one way or the other. Can easily do more harm than good. I know you mean well #1015, but please stop repeating it.

Mutaz, is your car a 98MY car (i.e. STi version 4), or an early 99MY car (STi version 5)?

when mine went there was a cloud of black smoke and engine fortunately cut out.. decided it was best not to try and start it again
