Default Yellow engine light - anyone

Morning –

A yellow engine light appeared whilst I was driving into work. When I started the car this morning and drove to the petrol station there was no sign of it. 10 minutes later whilst driving after filling up with V-max the light appeared. I never put my foot down so I can’t see any “driver” reason for this to appear. The engine never changed pitch or lost any performance.

Initially I thought there was a glitch so I restarted the car but the light was still present. 2002 STI. I’m praying this isn’t a huge issue can anyone shed some light or advice on the next course of action.. ta.

Dealer/speciallist for a diagnostic check, cost you about 50-60 quid, you cannot reset the ecu any other way except via laptop or diagnostic equipment.

I'm based in Uxbrigde so have have ToTd and Power Engineering close by.

I was at TOTD last week for a complete tranny, diff and engine oil change along with a dyno for a health check and all came back well with a good bill of health.

I do recall no tighting the petrol cap fully this morning (till the clicks) I went out and clicked it up. But if the light needs resetting I guess I need the pro's.

Dont want to make you shiver but mine came on once and it showed a misfire on cylinder 4 on the diagnostics. I ruled out every possible option but it ended up engine out as it had a burnt valve costing me £1500 car had only done 50k so I hope its not that, fingers x'd for ya pal!

Cheers for the offer Fiestaboy. It's booked in to torque of the devil tomo.

My Tarox could be here as well tomo. Two birds one stone if poss.

If the engine has issues I know a project that ill be doing this winter.

I'm interested in getting my hands on a reader going forward.

Quick update - After checking the car over there was sign of anything wrong. The ECU was reset and all is fine.. the catalyst detected a blip but this was a one off it seems.

New brakes are on too and now being bedded in. Thx to TOTD for being responsive and flexible by looking at my car instantly once I informed them.

Just what I was thinking Rich.

Seems to be a lot of people I have spoken lately gettng the same code after using V Power and using 1/4 tank etc.

I'm sure it's not the same stuff anymore.

Even had the light pop up on mine the other week when I hit hard boost (1.6) so switch over to lower boost map.

V Power isn't how we know it now.
