Default Standard 06 STi Quiet

I've got a standard 06 sti and its very quiet, thought there would be more exhaust noise. Whats the best option *** i fancy some rumble? Cat back?

i have an afterburner vortex back box from Scooby world. Sounds great with the windows open. and awesome from outside. The sound proofing in the Hawk (assuming that’s what you have) is pretty good so long journeys doesn’t rattle your brains...

Having said that i am going to replace the system turbo back at some point..

no mate, the standard sti exhaust is very quiet, the afterburner vortex is perfect, loud but not annoyingly loud.

Elliott thought you were in the dark side and had a EVO?? Is the scooby going to be as smooth as your old Focus?.

Hey Jay

Yea had 2 evo's, but a wedding, mortgage and the talk of kids has made me purchase somthing cheaper with slightly better running costs.

Nah haven't done any modding since the focus.

Maybe a Milltek and a remap - that's what I wish I had gone for, rather than PPP
Not too sure about loud systems - bit Chavvy in my book.

If you change the resonated section to a straight pipe, and change the back box you will get alot the burble back. I have a vortex and its just right, but the resonated made a big difference.

Hi question for you guys... if you change the standard back box to a vortex one or any other box will this affect fuel/air mixture or back presure? if not i might also go down this route as i have a 06 sti and yes it is quiet. hope someone can give me a positive answer on this one. ?????

I have a 3" cobra system on mine turbo back. Sounds nice not overly loud but when you floor it it sounds awesome. Mine came off a 06 sti.

Hey ritch, I don't think it makes any difference only a better sound. I've never noticed any difference on any of my other cars.

just purchased this....."Custom made MeerKat Stainless steel exhaust Backbox, to fit all subaru impreza from 2001 to 2007
MeerKat are top quality fabricators and custom exhaust makers they made the exhaust for C McRAE`s Mk2 escort
so you know this is a quality item and a direct fit with no hassle. has a 4 inch straight tip rolled in and has a nice deep tone without droning." pic looks good etc.

Has anyone heard of these?????? any good?
