Default Loss of power, poor idle and lots of smoke.

Hi, I am having a similar problem (same car - jap 96 WRX), it started off like that and has just got worse, I thought it was an exhaust issue as my exhausted was well rotten but after a new installation it is still giving me grief. I am seeing black smoke and soot out of the back and a huge loss of power to the point of not going over 20mph. There are heavy sucking noises and judders too. It seems to be symptoms of an oxygen sensor from what I have read, i am going to get mine tested soon.
I also have an error message to read though initially this did not flag up, it has only appeared since I got a new exhaust.
I am also seeing a bit of oil out of the bottom which is worrying however I am not sure if it is related. My sick Scooby is making me very sad stressed and skint!

Oh, thought I better mention, I have not long had a service including a fuel filter change, plugs and airfilter. I have tested leads and changed a coil pack. No result.

If anyone has had similar problems and found solutions, please drop us a note, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Black smoke, loss of power and heavy sucking noise. Would that not denote an I/C pipe off/split.
