Default STI/WRX quickie

Would a V7 STI bottom end fit into a 2002 WRX using the WRX heads, using the WRX ECU?

Not sure but i think so, I think the sti ecu is required only if using the STI heads

it will work, but id get it mapped as the sti pistons are slightly differnt compresion.
i found this outthe hard way, i put forged sti piston in my uk

the compresion was never right, but ran perfect
