Default Cosworth Baffle doesn't fit my block?

I bought a cosworth baffle plate for my closed deck block, and when i tried to fit it yesterday i found out it doesn't fit at all. The two vertical plates on the back of the baffleplate hit the block and the baffleplate doesnt fall in place.

There is a huge gap between the block and the plate:

Looking through this hole you can see the vertical plate touching the block:

And the baffleplate removed:

How did you trim yours? Just cut a piece of with a saw or something? And how much am i supposed to trim? How much space should be between the plate and the block?

On some blocks the vertical pieces need trimming with a whizzy wheel or file (make sure you cleana thoroughly afterwards). Just trim til the plate sits flush.

It seems that center thrust engines will all need trimmed to let the plate down. The channel/cut out is not long enough to allow it to sit down.

I presume it is better to take more than is needed out of the vertical leg, so that you are guaranteed the sump can seal correct against the block

They were designed for the EJ207 but need a little 'fettle' to fit the center thrust blocks.
Needs approx 2.50mm removing to clear the webs and its prudent to remove the rubber flaps to clean the swarf out properly.

Fitted one to my EJ257 without any issue whatsoever.

As above the problem seems to only be with closed deck centre thrust blocks.

As they said, it's just on the centre thrust blocks.
Sometimes, when modifying, it's no pain, no gain!
