Default Water/meth injection

Bought the following setup

http://www.aquamist.co.uk/cp/806-009/806-009.html

and for monitoring

http://www.iaperformance.com/product...oducts_id=2153

Want to run this as a 50/50 water/meth setup, mainly to see if I can get the turbo to spool quicker. Worth a go or waste of time?

Sorry to jump in here fellas, just curiosity got the better of me, why would you want to inject water and meth into the engine? Meth I can understand, but water???

water evaporates and takes the heat away and meths bumps up the octane level so the engine can run more power, but it needs a remap to get the best out of it

So only a very small amount of water, by comparison to fuel for example, is mixed with meth and injected in, but how would a map cope with this with regards to the injector cycle? Sorry for all the questions but i've never heard of this before, trying to learn from the best see!

I run 50/50 water and meth via an aquamist 2d system from a 12 litre tank in the boot.....comes on at 1 bar boost. Added about 30 BHP and the same torque when re-maped (By Bob Rawle).

Perhaps the most expensive 30 BHP so far LOL

Thanks for that greg320, cleared alot off my head. One thing still buggin me though, this is a cool way of gettin more bhp and lb/ft, but you are still limited to the quality of components in the engine i.e non-forged items, open deck etc, so is it debatable that this is not really worth it on a standard engine or am i just talkin s**t?? cheers for all ya info though

the water part of the mix vapourises pretty much before it gets down to the combustion chamber. My perrin/aquamist system is progressive and uses very little of the 50/50 mix.
I've recently installed some thermocouple sensors into the turbo/intercooler outlets to keep a closer eye on ACT. I'm only running 1 bar boost at the moment but at 6000rpm/1 bar, ambient 18c with the injection system switched off, the ACT on my TMIC was 36c, the ACT dropped back to 18c when the injection was switched on.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when the map is upgraded to run 1.5/1.6 bar in a couple of weeks.

If you are already running meth in the tank on this paticular car Banny, you'll be unlikely to see a further gain from injecting it with water.
I have ran a few Evos using the Aquamist or Devils Own kit with a 50/50 mix. From Vpower alone the gains were similar to running 5-10% meth in the tank.

but isnt it more convenient , ive heard meths is nasty stuff to handle to have the spray injection and it doesnt waste it as in only uses it when needed, i did want to do this to get up towards the 400 mark on my td05-18 and get the better spool up at the same time.

Stedee

See my post (8)

I run my bugeye WRX at just over 400 BHP with a TD08 18G with methanol injection........it was the only way I was going to get to the 400 BHP with the 18G which is what I wanted to do

Ok I broke two 5 speed gearboxes after the meth injection and had to get API to fit me a 6 speed but I guess I made the "magic" 400 LOL

It's a very expensive way of adding BHP LOL

Already running a map with 15% meth in the tank, so guess I will sell the setup and put the funds towards a nitrous kit of some form
