Default TD05-16G v TD05-18G v VF34

My VF turbo in my Type R is making a rattling noise when I go round large roundabouts so I'm guessing it will need replacing soon ish.
I asked about getting a new VF23 or VF24 (can't remember which one my car has) but but was told I may as well go for one of the turbos in the topic header.
A local turbo company has offered me:

VF34 at £725 + VAT
TD05 (16,18,20G) at £525 + VAT

Although these prices might be only avaliable as they have stock at the mo.

My car is a Version 4 Type R with Simtek ecu (no other mods).
Car is purely a daily drive so no trackdays, drag runs etc

I don't car about big power (over 300bhp will suffice) as I prefer quicker spool up so I would guess the TD05 16G would be the best bet.

Any informative advice would be appreciated
TIA
Paul

Hi Paul,

If you change the turbos you will need to remap the car. I would just replace the turbo like for like to save on mapping costs.

Indeed, it's just that I'm a little concerned about buying 2nd hand turbos as you do see many horror stories on here.
Personally if i could get a decent one I would stay standard.

Cheers Benno just need a bit more input about the various turbos but will keep your offer in mind

It's possible so will be checked out but the noise does sound more like metal ***** rolling around perhaps me describing as rattley was too generic a description
