Default Newage Steering Wheel on Classic

Hi all,

I am after a bit of help.

I have put a newage STI steering wheel on my classic, the airbag wires are attached from the loom. But the airbag like will not extinguish!!

If I put the original obe back on, the airbag light goes out!

Does any one know if there is a difference between the two type of air bag that would confuse the system?

I would like to retain the airbag, for obvious reasons.

thanks

Sounds as though it's not connected properly, as the light won't extinguish if the sensor can't "see" the airbag.

Exactly what I thought.
Put the original one back in and the light cleared!
Checked the resistance between the pins on the original airbag, it read 1.8 ohms. Checked the newage airbag and the reading was 0???

Can't find anything in my searches to help me resolve this.

If the airbag system is looking for a resistance of 1.5+ from the original airbag which works, it is not getting any resistance from the newage one, it will think that one is not connnected!

Strange.

Would love some input if any one has done this mod?
