Default my new engine is tapping :( plz help

hi all, sorry for the quick intro but im in need of some advice,

I have a 98 wrx sti import that is standard except decat, the engine is brand new and starts first time but it has a bad ticking tapping sound, i have no check engine lights or anything.

TBH im not good at diagnosing problems so any help would be great, also i have checked plugs, sensors and everthing so many times.. ad the oil is the norm,

IS THIS MY TAPPETS ?

Does it go away when warm? 98 are known for piston slap which doesn't sound great but is not really serious.

what you could do is make a probe to see if its the tappets, ive used a screwdriver wedged in some hose pipe and probed the screwdriver around with the hose to your ear that might help you locate the noise or failing that pop the covers off

it sounds like a loose tappet couldnt you let where you got it from sort it out ,because if there like the new age ones there adjusted with shims ,because of that there rarely done

This lad had a 'tapping' from his engine. Read the thread and follow the same route he did. It is the only way you will find out what 'your' problem is. The sooner it is diagnosed the cheaper it will be to sort.

Thats that one solved then, thank christ for youtube. Gone are the days when you actually need visit a garage for a proffesional diagnosis.

If the OP hooks their pc upto the car, perhaps someone will send the fix directly to the car and it will fix its self. Christine stylee.

As far as i can see, you have 3 choices:
1. Demand a full refund and take your cash elswhere.
2. Get a proffesional opinion/engineers report and go through the courts.
3. Get a proffesional dianosis and pay for any repairs.

The choice my friend, is yours.

but what is wrong with it tho, is it because the tappets are not filled with oil as the block is new, or cos the oil is not thick enough, kinda need to know whats wrong first, so if you guys could kindly tell me if you think its the tappets or something like rod knock, con rods, piston slap i would be really really greatful, as cant demand money back until i know whats wrong with it

sorry if that sounds blunt guys but i only know rotor engines these boxers are unique and u lot know loads more then me
