Rear disc removal
#2
take the wheel off , take the brake caliper off , disk will be looking at you , it maybe tight on the handbrake shoes , remove the small rubber gromet out of the backplate and wind off the handbrake (result slackening the handbrake )
then you mayneed some help from a hammer with the next task , hit the disk with a couple of clacks on the front (mind the studs) it should then free off enought for you to take it off ..

Once you have the handbrake freed off, there are two tapped holes in the disc face.
Wind in two M8 x 30mm bolts by hand, then turn each one a turn at a time until the diswc is forced off.
DO ensure the handbrake shoes are freed off thouigh, or risk damaging the mechanism

As arleady said ... but with some pics to help fella. Im sure it will be the same for your classic too ....
You may have a lip on your old discs so will need to push the piston/pads back a touch to enable it to slide up and off the disc. If so, use the little viewing hole and wedge a strong flat head screwdriver in there to lever the pad back a touch. ( You may need to release a small amount of pressure by undoing to bleed nipple by a tiny amount on the caliper whilst pushing the pad back. Be careful as some brake fluid will come out and the stuff is like paint stripper. Once youve pushed it back a touch retighten the nipple. DO NOT be tempted to keep turning the nipple, just nip it back by the amount you opened it)
If there is no lip, which i doubt, then skip the above.
Now remove the caliper by undoing the 2 large bolts (13mm i think??) from behind .. ( You can see the two holes in the stone guard where the caliper bolts on )
Have something secure to rest the caliper on and be careful not to twist, fold, bend the brake lines ....
Once the caliper is off, remove the rubber gromet from the back (already removed in this pic)
With a longish but small flat head screwdriver, and torch, turn the cog inside down if i remember correctly, to loosen the handbrake shoes. This is the cog you will be turning if you could see it ....
Once you are happy you've managed to turn the cog a fair amount, try pulling the disc away. Be gentle, if you feel its free but just not coming away you will need to loosen the handbrake further ... do not force the issue as you may rip the shoes out with the disc and then you've got a bigger job on your hands.
Hopefully the disc is off now and you can clean your new ones, clean the hub face of any cr#ppy deposits, apply some coopergrease to the face
Job done ... but before sliding the new discs on, id tighten the handbrake cog now that its easily visible from the front ( just above the red line in the pic ) to a point where the discs just clears and slides on. This will save you some mucking about later. Once on refit caliper, and then adjust the handbrake from the rear using the same number of clicks on the cog for each side until you are happy with the amount of handbrake lever movement from inside the car ....
Think thats it .... good luck!
If anything isnt clear just ask
