Default What is the boost pressure of 97 uk turbo with PPP ecu?

Hi all,

A few questions here so please bear with me.

Does any one know the boost pressure of the 1997 uk turbo with the PPP ecu?
(the car is currently holding 10-11 psi in 4th)

I have got a turbosmart MBC ready and waiting to be fitted and was wondering what would a safe boost pressure to run say (1-1.1 bar)?
(last time the car was on the hub rollers at Torque Developments i was told the car was running rich)

Last question. looking at ditching the PPP ecu next year in favour of getting JGM to fit the simtek unit as i am looking for 280-300 bhp . Money well spent or it there better options??

Finally the car spec:-

1997 Full prodrive WR spec (all kits ex-prodrive owned car). TD04 turbo
H&S back box and decatted centre section
K&N induction kit
Chav dump valve (OEM unit being refitted!)
STI v3 intercooler with samcos
Turbomart MBC (to be fitted)
Ninja down pipe with 100cel cat (ordered)
189 bhp at the hubs measured at torque developments (slightly disappointed)

thanks kyle.

This pack should run 240ish bhp out of the box with super unleaded fuel, should boost to 1.1 bar standard, if its not then one or more of your mods is probably causing an issue and decreasing your power (I'd go for the k&n induction kit).
What was the fly BHP when measured?

Cheers Mate.

I did think the boost should be around the 1 bar mark with PPP. Unfortunately the original air box with Ramair filter was not on the car when i got it , but i will look for a standard air box with a new green panel filter i think ;-)

Still a good idea to fit the MBC do you think?

The rolling road at Torque Developments is not conventional as they take all 4 wheels off and bolt to the hubs four units and this system can only give at wheels bhp. Might try a conventional one for the next mods, though i could not fault the good advice and customer service there. They reckon fit the new Apexi AVC once an ally intercooler is fitted (done) then crank the boost up to 1.1 bar to start. Not sure though as costs £700 fitted against a complete Simtek £900 fitted ??

Was happy the car still had some power with 133k on the clock !!
