Default Was PPP a standard fit on the Type UK '02 STi?

Luckily I own one of the 53 Bugeye 2002 sti type uk prodrive style black/blue mica scoobies, identified on Scoobynet!

Can anyone tell me, was the PPP a standard fit on this model or an optional extra?

If it was an option, how do I physically identify if it was actually specified on my car?

The reason I ask is that I am once again considering a Remap and don't know if I need to worry about sports cats etc?
Also, did the PPP just add a sports cat in the down pipe or were both cats fettled with?

Thanks in advance

Will

Hi Will,

The Prodrive style was exactly that, a style pack to include the front bumper etc. The best and easiest way is to call Subaru UK (IM) and ask to speak to technical, give them your chassis number and they will confirm if fitted or not.

You should have a certificate in your docs pack too if fitted.

As far as the parts go, it included a sports cat and a pipe that deleted the 2nd cat.

It consisted of the following;

SE/089/SU Down pipe with catalyst and heat shield

SE/065/SU Centre exhaust pipe

SE/061/SU Prodrive STI back box

44S/Q5/042 Prodrive STI ECU

44S/T5/001 Prodrive Fuel pump

SD44059AA030Standard exhaust flange bolt (one per kit)

SD44022AA131Gasket for exhaust

You can physically look if you have a ramp but unless you can check each component then you may as well just ring Subaru.

Any dealer will be able to tell you if you have your chassis number, it was an optional extra so not fitted to all cars.

Sy, is correct. I remember looking at an 02 Sti when new and thinking it was a lot of money for the Prodrive 'Style' pack and extra again for the 'performance' pack.

They dropped the 'style' pack for the 03 car, but you could still buy the PPP. I think making the blob eye cheaper than the bug eye and upsetting quite a few customers who had paid over the odd for the 02 model. If i remember correctly

When I saw the blob-eye, I wasn't upset... as I'm not a fan of the facelift...

LOL

Even back in 2002 it was obvious that the tuners were going to be able to offer way more power for less dosh, mine cost the same but made 340 bhp and similar torque, thanks to Richard Bulmer.
