Default how long will it last ?

Hi all hope every 1 had good xmas . dose any one know how long a wheel bearing will last have been told it was on its way out as was making a slight nosie .done about 100miles on it but ment to be going to lambourne tomo will be ok ?
Got order new 1 but looking about as there are a lot not knowing a lot about my sti bug need to get the rite 1

Impossible to answer really.

I've known them last for long enough but then i have seen the damage/mayhem caused when they do let go.
Obviously, on a drive wheel, which is all of them in our case the bearing is under constant strain and will heat up very quickly.
If it does decide to let go on the open road then it may cost you your car or even worse!!!

Will damage hub if left, may be too late already.

they said its only just started by the nosie dont think its to late .how easy are they to change going to order one in abit a think from import car parts as they are the only people that seem to have them

I would not drive it.....A mate of mine had a "catastrophic failure" on a bearing....literally exploded, and took a large portion of the side of the car, wheel arch etc etc along with it....not worth the risk, but to answer your question.......b13bat is correct IMO, it could last for hundreds of miles, or hundreds of meters....

Easy if you have a press and the hub comes off easy if not a right pain in the ***

ok all order but not looking forwood to changing it as have never done 1 before but we all must learn some time

Take your time, have a good look at it and you will figure it out. Changing a bearing is not very hard. Make sure to support the centre of hub(without obstructing the bearing) as you don't want to break/snap anything.

i know its not clever but due to one thing and another i have been driving on a shot bearing for over 12 months inc 2x track days

have ordered two complete hubs of a lad on here though now as im in a position to replace

well thank you all for the help bearing kit arived this mo from import car parts was impressd with the fast delivery . order some new drop links as well as they have never been changed as far as im aware. so job for the weekend me thinks . as my mate has my trollyjack .

So lots **** lots of coffee and take my time

couldnt get the hub off but there was no play or noise now from the bearing in question maybe it didnt need doing as some 1 has said it mite just be my tyres making the nosie ?
