A simpler, cheaper and quicker solution is to buy an under-seat slimline powered sub (the Ripspeed one in Halfords is good - about £30).
It's piece of pee to wire up and integrate into your exixting set-up, is out of sight and does add decent genuine, bass and 'flesh' out the whole soundstage. Perfect for everyday listening, without spending too much/getting too serious.
I fitted the Ripspeed one in my previous WRX and loved the results (the OEM speakers had no bass capability at all! ) for the relatively little outlay/lack of hassle.

Try and get one of those tomorrow. Do they need an amp?
My current speakers are ok but struggle with some types of bass. And I have no speakers at all in the rear. Any one know what size for the rear please?

No, it's a powered sub -- means the amp is built in and drives the speaker.
Halfords offer a fitting service if you can't be arsed - bonus.

The great thing about a standalone sub, is that you have the freedom to turn the bass down as appropiate on your H.U. so the crap speakers don't get as much (or any!) bass, and thus let the more capable sub's bass speaker carry the bass duties.
That's what I did; turned the bass control down on the HU to "+5" (3/4s of the max amount), and altered the gain (+ crossover) on the sub to integrate as natural-sounding as possible...
Rear speakers I expect will be 6x9s???

Not if they are in the doorcards, no, they will be 13cm, but you can fit up to 17cm with an adaptor, the one for a Corsa works, or make your own.
And sub apart, I'd STILL put some decent speakers in as well.
You DO need the doorcards off, but once you have done one, they are easy, I can have one off and back on again in under ten minutes now.
