Default obd reader problem

Is there a differance be OBD readers i have a 98 forester turbo should oOBD2 program read it or is it just OBD
could it be beacuse its a import 11 pins 12 pins someone has said to me.

Make of reader is a elm 327

There is not a lot that can connect to Subaru's. Well not handheld devices anyway.
Is that what yours is? USB ones should be OK witht he right software.

Hi matey buy OBD-USB cable and download RomRaider and you will be fine and will be cheaper for longer run

This hasnt anything under a 2001 subaru m8
Needs to cover 98

That was lucky, only stumbled on this thread.

If you have the yellow Subaru Select monitor socket then you can make a simple cable and use SSM s/w or Evoscan. I'm by no means expert on this but it does seem to work well for logging.

Cable how to

Select Monitor is available here. The site seems to be a bit hit and miss and unless your ECU is already identified you will have to spend some time setting it up.
I prefer to use this. Not free but it is ready to go.

I bought a SSMI to OBDII converter to experiment with RomRaider, but as was previously suspected SSMI and OBDII do not 'speak' the same language so RR AFAIK is not compatible. But like i said, i'm no expert.

RomRaider have problem with classic Subaru,due out are not any definition for Classic(or ECU image),i'm afraid.
