Default Trackday friendly 3" exhaust system?

Howdy all,

I am looking for an exhaust system/backbox which is trackday friendly and can flow as good as my current setup.

I am currently running a fully decatted 3" system consisting of a 3" H&S decat downpipe, mated to a true full 3" Blitz Nur Spec R centre and backbox. This is very loud, and I very much doubt I could get close to the noise restrictions at some tracks.. so I am not even going to bother trying!

So suggestions? Will a good backbox suffice, or should I grab a long centre section and backbox?

Also, I'm guessing in going for a quieter system that I shouldn't need a map tweak or anything? The new exhaust will only be used for tracks, normal/road use will go back to the Blitz

Thanks

Edited to say its a UK Blobeye STi

Get in touch with Pete/Matt at Exhaustsuk and ask about their track friendly system which I am running on my wr1 - good enough for 700+ so will be good enough for the majority!

I wouldn't even consider just a back box with a Blitz centre - their routing seems to be slightly different from the factory exhaust and the 3" centre I bought from Cobra to make the system a 3" from the turbo has been a pig to fit. The back box comes out slightly further which sits better in terms of alignment with the rear bumper, but the tail is pushed up which required the bumper to be trimmed.

Also cobra 3" exhaust are a 3" OD whereas blitz has a 3" ID. I am getting the flange that mates to a 2.5" exhaust welded back on my blitz centre as it has the same ID at the neck as the cobra system (2.75").

If you want a genuine 3" you need revolution or RCM systems

Also, these systems seem to have donut flanges? My H&S downpipe just has a flat flange to mate it to the centre section..

RCM does, I run a resonated 3" centre and its very quiet as the resonated section (a H&S down pipe and custom very, very quite backbox), is enormous compared to most so . There are some pics in my project thread if required.

Yes, but note they will make something for you if special requirement. Speak to them and see what they have to say.

just to give you an idea here are two centre section; this is a 2.5" H&S vs 3" RCM...both with resonated sections.

Pete/Exhausts UK are making me a double boxed centre section with a 3" flat flange Really wanted the Rev system but it's alot of faith in the longevity of a back box as the centre is still unresonated.

Thanks guys, all your input has been great so far. My main concern with the exhaustsuk.com and the Milltek exhausts are that they don't seem to be 3" internal diameter, like my downpipe and current Blitz exhaust.

I'm sure they flow well enough as many good power cars run them, but I am looking for the smallest difference in exhaust flow as possible for fear of disturbing my map! So that means the exhaust definitely has to have a 3" internal diameter. So that leaves me with RCM or Revolution I take it?

I'm pretty sure the Cobra is 3" ? It wasn't smaller than my 3" Invidia downpipe anyway.

I wouldn't say that it is that silent though. I only have a sound clip on idle (cold start on E85 2000 rpm) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfXrZaysLd8

Also the tail pipe could be a bit longer.

My car is mapped for 3", runs fine on a 2.5" bore centre and back box I wouldn't worry too much tbh Cobra system is 3" anyway

Where did you get that info from? Was it from speaking to Exhaustsuk?? Think I would have been struggling to get the power I have currently had mine (cobra) not been 3"!

One of their suppliers told me it was 2.75" internal bore. Although I am in discussion over email with Adam from exhaustsuk.com and have now asked if the internal bore is actually 3".

I have both their decat downpipe and centre section and both are 2.75" internal bore.

Adam from exhaustsuk.com has just confirmed to me that it is indeed only 3" EXTERNAL diameter. Which is a shame
