Default Part ID help needed

what is this? - http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...d/IMG_0451.jpg and what does it do? Reason I ask is because the bottom pipe is not connected to anything.

Also

Have a boost controller in the car and i assume that this http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...d/IMG_0450.jpg is to do with said boost controller, the in car bit has no name on but this under bonnet bit has HKS on and as you can see there's a 'nipple'(?) with no pipe on it, does anyone who knows about HKS boost controllers know why there's no pipe needed there?

Have no manual unfortunately

thanks muchly

The 1st picture is the original boost control solenoid and the second picture is an HKS boost control solenoid. The spare nipple will probably be for external waste gate use or a vta connection. If you go on the HKS website, they normally have installation guide for downloading.

Thanks chaps, a swift response
Will give the hks site some stick. So the original boost solenoid will be redundant while the boost controller is present right?

thanks again

Aye Martin, but as above leave the standard solenoid plugged in or else it throws up a CEL.

I tend to use 3rd or 4th gear when tweaking my boost controller.
