strange idle on my96 sti import
i put my impreza to bed for the bad weather as last year i hit black ice and span and flipped her cost a fortune to get back on the road
went to start her today and it started first time but she is idleng up to 2500 and back to 900 revs every few seconds on its own
i ran a fault check on her as the ewl kept flashing on everytime it went back to 900 but never came back with any codes
has anyone got any ideas as im stumped

Did you get her up to operating temperature??
Could be any one of, or a combination of a few things really, ICV, CTS, MAF. You really should be getting a fault code, if the CEL flashed then it will be stored. Perhaps do a full reset and see if it flashes up then.

no didnt wanna chance it as i have just rebuilt the engine and its only done 30 m since rebuild it ran mint before i put her to bed
will try ecu reset in the morning
just a quick one when i unplugged the icv it stopped but obviously ran rough
would it do any damage to let it run to full temp and see if it settles

edit: You will need to be up to temp to do a reset anyhow.
