Default engine

the head gaskets went on my engine and after it was stripped we found scorred cylinders and the crank wont turn very easy so i guess its f**ked.i dont wanna spend a furtune now as i wanna save 4 a 2.1 rebuild later in the yr but i do want the car bk on the road.ive been looking 4 a bottom end/block but ive come across some things id like 2 ask first.im prob just being a dumbass here but wots the diffrence between the single turbo legacy engine and a wrx engine? and also if i used a block from a v4 v5 (top coil pack) could i use it with the heads manifold ect from my v1 v2 engine? help plz

just to be pedant here, the short block will include pistons, rods, crank and bearings.

AFAIK, the heads will fit, it will be a case of choosing the right gaskets.
Best to ask a tuner, David at APi, Prodriverules, Harvey Smith, Allan Jeffery, etc.

To give you an example, mine was rebuilt with standard UK 98 heads, (ie version 4), onto a 2.5 short engine I'd had forged.
