I would say a very good 5w-40 would probably be the way to go, unless you are getting high (over 125C) oil temps, then a 10w-50 is the best choice.

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition.

I was using Silkolene Pro S 5w/40 but changed over to Silkolene Pro S 10w/50 once I went up to 400+ bhp.
My oil temps stay very good and have only seen it go over 100 a few times. Most of the time anything from 7-91 circa.
I was going to go to Bardahl oil as I have heard about a new oil generation they use that others haven't cotton onto yet. But I have just purchased another load of Fuchs (used to be Silkolene) Pro S 10w / 50.

Stick with the Pro S rather than getting the Bardahl, no matter what their marketing might say. Their magic ingredient that the other companies are yet to use is actually from the 60s and the other companies realised it doesn't work.

Bardahl use the Buckyballs Fullerenes and while a layer of minute ball bearings between surfaces seems like a great idea, it doesn't work as the buckyballs are to small. Carbon nanotubes are possibly a help with lubrication, but that's not decided yet. If you google fullerene you'll find some articles about Fullerenes in lubrication, but the articles and research are really bad, they actually make any research they have done completely pointless as it's all so inaccurate.

do any of you guys change the grade of the oil according to time of year, warmer summer months so different thickness oil to colder winter months etc,or is it best to just stick with one that covers all year round.
