Default How to remove 2003 aerial

Well i awoke this morning to find that some grubby little sh!te has had his hands on my 2003 impreza and wrenched the wing mirror back and snapped the aerial off.

The wing mirror is sorted but i need to remove the aerial as if I drive it like is its going to flap around and damage the roof.

Ive taken the two retaining screws out and the aerial housing obviously comes loose to reveal the lead and the retaining tube. My question is will the aerial lead just unplug from the housing ready for the new aerial to be fitted or is it attached all the way down to the stereo and hence I need to trace the whole cable out?

Urgent help needed peoples as im desperately short of time to sort this.

That's been fitted by a previous owner? 2003 cars had the rear screen element as the aerial.

If its a drivers door pillar mounted aerial then you need to undo the 2 retaining screws, so its loose then take the head unit out and lift the drivers foot well carpet up.. you will find the cable runs under it.. basically then pull the cable back but not all the way out.. get a piece of string and tape it to the end of the aerial and pull it through the pillar then get the new one and as they say do the opposite for re fitting..

If it gets stuck you will just have to pull off the inside pillar cover to free it up, It's only a few clips IIRC..
