Default Rear brake issuue (Hawkeye)

I have just noticed a slight metal to metal noise coming from the rear wheels, It seems as the rear brakes have worn and there's a little sort of metal guide rubbing on the disk Can anyone confirm this is whats meant to happen ????

Also I changed the front pads and rear pads at the same time (2 and half years ago) now the fronts look fine but the rears have gone brakes work fine and never had a problem just thought it was strange as I thought the bias would be on the front???

One more thing who is the best for standard brakes???
Sorry for all the questions.
Gonzo.

Yes thats exactly what should happen. The metal guide/tab is the wear indicator. Standard pads if thats all you want? Just use a local motor factors near to you or order from somewhere like jap car parts, import car parts, camskill. I would also expact the fronts to wear quicker than the rears. It maybe the tab is bent or was bent during fitting of pads. If the pads are only say half worn with the metal rubbing on disc thed either bent it away or cut it off the pad.

The standard pads are pretty poor. The new EBC bluestuff our fantastic. I replaced mine with Godspeed grooved disks all round and the new bluestuff pads. Very very good and no brake fade

as already said yes this is the norm.

i have the new ebc bluestuff on my hawkeye all round and cant praise them highly enough,

if u are goin for standard pads i would just get the fast road pads from ian godney or bob at aztec performance as they are the next step up from the standard pads,

have a look in the group buy section

all depends on how u drive it i suppose but i found them fast roads pads better than the standard blocks of wood they come with but they didnt suit my driving needs that why i went to the new bluestuff,
