Default Which Turbo?

Okay lads, I need some advice please?

I have a V4 Type R which is standard apart from a full 3" exhaust with DP & a Simtek ECU mapped by JGM.

I'm thinking about a turbo upgrade but I don't want to go too mad or get a turbo that far surpasses my needs. I'm willing to buy a FMIC but I've read that the TMIC is good for 400bhp, I'm not aiming anywhere near 400bhp so my TMIC should be fine.

I've thought about a Walbro, FPR & injectors but do I really need them?

Thinking about a VF34/35 turbo or open to other suggestions with my current set up?

Cheers

You will need a fmic really if you upgrade the turbo, also a new ecu as yours cant be mapped (i see you already have a simtek ), and the vf34/35 are good choices, its not going to be cheap though, a simtek remap wont be that bad, so your looking at around the 1k+ area for your parts.
You will need injectors and an uprated fuel pump, an fpr is also a good idea along with something like a KS3 for knock detection, it all adds to the above price so your looking at another 500 on top of the above but that should give you 340-350bhp which is about as far as you want to go on the standard internals for reliability.

Thank you Tony

I've just been informed by JGM that there are a few good deals on some VF48s at the moment so I'll have to have a mooch about.

Do you reckon 550cc injectors would be a smart move?

Why would a FMIC be a good idea if the TMIC is good for 400 & I'm only looking at 340-350? Efficiency?

Classic tmic's are not as good as new age ones which are good for 400+bhp so 330 is really the tops you want on the standard one and really then fmic is the way to go.
550/565's are the way ahead for you as your 440's will be struggling at 320-330bhp

550cc/565cc are good up to 400BHP,and about TMIC,if you have fitted new age TMIC,these are good up to 400bhp+,not sure n Classic one.

also you say your only looking for around the 340 mark, but sure as anything once your there, you'll only want more so a fmic in place has the scope for next stage

VF34 is best from these two,i've fitted on mine and has pleasure to drive...
VF34 is ball bearing turbo and will make 340-350bhp(on some cars i've seen 360bhp),VF35 is thrust bearing turbo, which will make 330-340bhp,but i would go with VF34 all the way, really pleasure to drive with VF34 all the time.

No need for a VF48 then. I'll have a mooch for a VF34 as it more than meets my requirements.

Thanks for all your help lads

**UPDATE**

Well I've fitted my parts...

Already had:
Simtek ECU
A full 3" HKS Exhaust & DP
Remapped by JGM

New Parts:
Turbo VF34 w/ Forge Actuator
550cc Injectors
Injector Adapters
Walbro Fuel Pump
FMIC
Apexi Power Intake
PFR7B Plugs
Syvecs FPR

Remapped again by JGM

I'm really really pleased with the results.

The VF34 packs a serious punch. 1.5bar holds really well & the car feels savage again. I don't know what power it's putting out, I'll have to get it on the rollers, but I'm one happy chappy!

A big thanks again to JGM, he's bloody good you know
