Any of you lot changed their standard double din unit, to a nice sexy touch screen one. If so any ideas on a good unit, i seen a few second hand ones on ebay up 2 £300.

i had one in my previous car, got a bit anoying as it took too much effort to do anything, and the touch screen was a bit unresponsive, but that was 3 years ago.
i couldnt warrent putting one in my impreza, as i dont use it much, but there are lots of options, as i looked for them before settling on a cheap alpine. whats your budget?

I had changed mine recently, I put in a Pioneer avic touch screen with Sat Nav/DVD etc, I also looked at those cheap imports from Hong Kong and they are quite big so you have to enlarge the aperture, so if your not sure you'll have to replace the console facier. You are better off with the regular brands, there are plenty on ebay and a bargin can be had. Good luck

The sounds pretty good, not as loud when playing the ipod as the old alpine one was though.

I got a kenwood dnx5220 with an ipod adaptor. Fits nicely, except it wants to be wired up to the handbrake sensor so you can't use the satnav or video functionality unless stationary. I got around it by earthing that wire. It has a range of other options, including bluetooth, reversing camera, and TV tuner, but was quite steep when I got it a couple of years ago.
The sound is fine, within the limitations of the standard speakers. The sat nav (Garmin based) is reasonable as such things go, still wants to take me down country lanes that are marked as national speed limit. The maps need updating now and kenwood are asking for £150, that's just an outrage.
